Itihāsa (pronounced as indicated by the logo, ɪˈtɪhɑːs) Press is an imprint of an individual-run publisher based in India that produces high-quality books on art from across the world. It was initiated in 2025.
Significance of the Name:
In ancient Hindu literature, the term Itihāsa denotes a genre of narrative texts that recount significant historical events. Itihāsas are repositories of cultural, spiritual, historical, philosophical, and even mythical stories, values, practices, beliefs, and teachings. The word is derived from the Sanskrit root “iti” meaning “thus” and “hāsa” meaning “happened” or “occurred.”
At Itihāsa Press, we believe in keeping the stories, and the history, of art alive and inspiring creativity across generations globally!
Our Forthcoming Titles:
Legends of Art: Get to Know the Great Artists of the World!
Legends of Art is an engaging, child-friendly art series that introduces children to the fascinating world of art. Each title features an engaging story of the life of a great artist, a curated selection of their artworks, and some interactive pages, where young readers can jot down their first impressions of the art works and the artist, solve word puzzles based on the artist’s story, draw or “reproduce” an artwork, and create their own art. Part storybook, part art-activity guide, this series helps children learn, observe, and create, making art both accessible and fun.
